Welcome to school! We are so glad you are here!

Junior and Senior Infants have all settled into school and are enjoying getting to know everybody. We are having lots of fun working on our fine motor skills, nursery rhymes and we all love story time!

October

October was a busy month in Junior and Senior Infants. We enjoyed autumn walks, leaf hunts and making beautiful autumn trees. We wrote reports on hedgehogs and read lots of autumn stories. We enjoyed taking part in Maths Week (check out our STEM page for some photos of what we got up to).

We had lots of fun at Halloween time. We made bubbly cauldrons and fizzy witchy potions. We created spooky ghost puppets and scary mummy artwork. Lots of spooky children came to school one day- can you spot anyone you know!?

We hid Ted in, on, under and beside things.

We enjoyed Science Week and had so much fun experimenting.You can see some photos on our STEM page. We are all Scientists!

We loved reading some stories about school. Our favourite was We Don’t Eat Our Classmates by Ryan T. Higgins. It is very funny!

Wow! What a busy month we have had! As well as lots and lots of learning, we were the Stars of the show and presented our nativity play ‘The Tiny Angel’ at the Christmas Carol Service. Everybody worked so hard learning their lines. We loved performing for our families and friends. We did a super job!

We had a super trip to The Helix to see the pantomime ‘Rapunzel’ Oh no you didn’t- Oh yes we did!

We loved pyjamas and hot chocolate day. We watched a movie with our friends in First & Second Class.

We created lots of beautiful Christmas and winter artwork. We enjoyed some guided drawing. We drew snowmen. Aren’t they cute! We made sparkly snowflakes too.

Happy New Year!

Junior and Senior Infants have had a busy month, full of fun and learning. This month, our theme was Homes. We enjoyed reading ‘Sharing a Shell’ and ‘The Three Little Pigs’

The boys and girls loved reading ‘Cosy’ by Jan Brett. This story inspired us to design and create Hibernation Stations for some animals.

We celebrated Grandparent’s Day. We made
pictures of our Grandparents. They visited our
classroom. It was a very special day.

February

Spring is in the Air!

Our themes for this month were Springtime and The Farm. We really enjoyed learning about these topics. We read lots of lovely stories and we wrote a collaborative report on why farms are important. This means we all worked together. We are very good writers!

We had great fun working on some Maths tasks this month. Maths is everywhere! Our favourite task was working in groups to design a garden 30 straws in size. Check out our cool gardens.

We celebrated Valentine’s Day by making cute Love Bug hats and creating beautiful cards to take home to the people we love most.

World Book Day

Seachtain na Gaeilge

We had great fun visiting the Siopa, playing cluiche and dancing An Dreolin and Ballaí Luimnigh with our friends. We had great fun at the Tóraíocht Taisce too!

Hot Lunches Have Arrived!

We are enjoying our hot lunches from The Lunch Bag. Yum yum!

Spring Sunshine

We have been enjoying some time outdoors in the beautiful sunshine.

We had lots to celebrate and learn about this month!

April

This month we learned about Africa. We read some stories based in Africa. We learned all about African countries. We really enjoyed Handa’s Surprise. We talked about the beautiful illustrations. We learned about some African animals and some African fruits.

In maths, we loved learning about money! We played shop and used coins to pay for our items. We made coin rubbings. We added the value of coins to pay for some things. We are very good at adding!

Junior & Senior Infants are loving our Thursday STEM stations. This month the groups worked on Forces (we learned about pushes and pulls) We used the ipads to reinforce our phonics and enjoyed some literacy games. We enjoyed a polydron building challenge and had to build a rocket that could fit a whole group of children inside.

Senior Infants have been writing really great mini stories and are great at using wow words in their sentences.

Junior Infants are becoming very good hand-writers and can write their words beautifully. Well done everybody- keep up the super work!

Infants had great fun doing some Easter activities We designed some very pretty, colourful Easter eggs. We made yummy rice krispie nests. We had an egg hunt too.
